ANNY – Leicestershire

Poor Anny has had an unsettling life so far. She was bought by a novice owner, who knew little or nothing about dog training. But she was loved, and she lived a happy enough family life, doing pretty much as she pleased. She then had to go and live in a first floor flat alone with her owner, who then had to work two jobs. This means that she is now left for almost twelve hours a day. Her owner feels that she is letting Anny down and she knows that she deserves a home, where she would receive more attention and company. (And, I would add training.) Her owner is heartbroken to be rehoming Anny but feels that it is in her best interests.

It is a credit to Anny's temperament that she has not become a seriously aggressive dog, living in such constrained circumstances. Our assessor described her as 'a great dog, who will do well with an owner who is willing to start over with her'. She goes on to say that she is still very much a puppy, and she exhibits puppy mouthing and jumping up. She has not been introduced to the basic principle of training - that a dog is rewarded for good behaviour. She is not really lead trained as she is allowed off lead almost immediately, when they reach the park. She will then run around happily charging up to other dogs asking them to play with her. She has been a companion to her owner sharing her bed at night and she has her own chair to sit at the dining table, where she shares her owner's food.

Anyone adopting Anny would have to begin at the basics again with her. She is sweet natured and intelligent, and she would be easy to train, after initial bemusement probably, on her part. Above all,  Anny would revel in a home, where she has company and is given the attention that she needs. She must be so lonely being left for so long without company of any kind.

Can you offer her a home where she can live her best life?
