Max has had to go into kennels and is urgently looking for a new home or foster space.
Max will need an experienced home without children, with someone who can give him time to get to know them. He is unsure of new people and will bark, but our volunteer just ignored him and Max soon can over quietly to investigate.
However he can be very overprotective of his owner, therefore he will need an experienced home with someone who has a lot of GSD experience. If he is allowed to he will become over dominant with anyone else who he has not bonded with. When people come to visit the house his adopter will need to be careful as this is when his over protection issue will occur. Although he does get on with many dogs he would be better off in a home where he is the only dog. He will try to over dominate other dogs in the home.
What Max needs ideally is an adult only home where everyone in the home can be part of his training and not allow him to become the over protector. He will need basic training and will become very attached to his adopter. If you have the time and knowledge Max will be a very loving loyal dog.
