Neve - Newport Gwent

Neve - Newport Gwent

Neve was just a year old when he ended up in a terrible pound in Cyprus at the end of December 2013, where he had spent 5 whole months chained to and using a green bin as his home. Despite this ordeal, he is a very friendly boy of around 1.5 years old who walks very well on the leash and understands basic commands.

Neve loves people and gets along with children too. When he arrived from Cyprus he went to kennels for a couple of days where he was good with dogs and the kennel cats.

Neve thought he had found a home to call his own but sadly has been rejected and ended up back in kennels which he hates. The resident cat in his new home wouldn't tolerate Neve and they weren't prepared to work through this issue

This is what his foster home told us about him.

Neve is such a lovely friendly affectionate dog.  Absolutely no aggression even with food and toys – we could take his food bowl away half way through his meal – ask him to “give” a toy and he willingly let us take it out of his mouth.

We met a few dogs out and about and also in Pets at Home and he gave no sign of any aggression.

He gives a paw at the slightest sign and when told “down” often rolls over for a tummy rub.  In the 2 weeks with us he learned a lot of commands he is a dream to train. He would wait – sit – down and come although his recall needs a little work so he would need more work before going off the lead in open spaces.

“Bed” was the command for him to very happily get into his crate for the night.

Neve loves his toys.  Is very happy to be handled and checked over, groomed by us every day, tick removed from ear by vet nurse.  He seems to love all attention.

He is a great traveller. Has done 2 x 3 hour drives without stopping as well as numerous short trips.  He just sits looking out the window, no whining nor barking nor car sickness.

His heel and lead work needs some training, he was walked with a dogmatic size 3 – 3L – but if he senses or sees a rabbit or squirrel he does pull very hard – and he is strong.

He loves to play, jump and learn and would probably be good at agility training.

He also loves to run, our daughter used to go running with him on a harness attached to a waist-belt lead – so would be an ideal companion for a running enthusiast.

So Neve in fact is almost perfect but not perfect enough it seems!!!

Can you give this beautiful boy the home he deserves becasuse with just a little effort, you will have the perfect companion
