Well this lovely boy has arrived at the kennels a little shocked and nervous. His owner claims he is nervous aggressive and never lets him off lead outside the house.
When strangers come to the house, if they are noisy, excited then Max reacts in a protective manner and growls. He was fine with our assessor who sat down quietly and allowed Max to approach. Max approached respectfully, sniffed and gently took a treat after being told to sit
Our assessor believes Max to be a well trained dog who is picking up on his owners nervousness. Max was always handled by the ladies ex husband who took him training and achieved a silver award.
Max who does respond better to Maxwell, will need a calm confident owner who can help Max build up his trust again. He has met younger children in the family, but we believe he would be best suited to an adult only home or one with older teenagers
He is not a dog that will do well in kennels so we would like to find him either a foster home or permanent home as soon as possible
The very handsome Maxwell

Looking a bit more chilled now that our volunteer Ben has walked him
