Lovely older German Shepherd Dogs that need new homes

Poor Archie. His story highlights the plight of older dogs

We do not want these older dogs to spend lengthy periods in a cold kennel

Meg and Fern - very urgent

meg and fern older gsd

Fern (top) and Meg (bottom) are in DESPERATE NEED FOR A HOME BY THE 4th AUGUST as their owner must be out of their home by then.  Fern is 12 years old and is slightly arthritic on her back legs. Meg is 8 years young and really wants to have a good run. Both dogs are spayed and good with other dogs. They have super temperaments and are good with children.

Simba

simba gsd

Simba is a 10 year old spayed butch. She is a loyal and trusting dog with people when she has sussed them out.  She does live with cats but isn’t that tolerant of them. Her basic commands are good and she is ok on the lead. We wouldn’t rehome her with young children as Simba does suffer from epilepsy which is controllable with medication. SIMBA MUST BE REHOMED BEFORE THE  2nd AUGUST as her owner is losing his accommodation.

Suzie and Bruno - do you have a big heart?

suzie and bruno neglected older gsds

This is Suzie & Bruno, both 10 yrs old. Bruno is neutered, Suzie not spayed. Neither vaccinated or microchipped. As you can see, these lovely older dogs have been very neglected and both could do with going to see the groomer. Poor Suzie looks terrified and neither look as if they have been walked in a long time. It would be lovely for them to stay together in a home where they would get the love they really do deserve. Lovely dogs and so sad to see that they have been treated like this.

Mosey - loves his ball

moses

Mosey is not a pure GSD he  will be 9 yrs young in June he is castrated. He did live with his owner at a care home. He had not had contact with young children but since going into our kennels has and loves to play with his toys. But we still think an adult home would be best for Mosey. Mosey has been loved and well cared for, unfortunately his lady owner is ill and that is the only reason for parting. Mosey was afraid when he arrived at the kennels but he is now fine and can be taken out and let off lead he comes back when called. We are not sure what he is like with other dogs in the past he was not taken out much. He doesn't seem to be bothered by the other dogs in the kennels. This boy deserves a chance to get back by the fireside and enjoy life to the full,he loves nothing more than to play with his toys he carries an old football everywhere he goes, so please don't over look him, he may not be pure GSD his mother was a full GSD go and visit him and see what you think after you have met this boy. Mosey is in kennels near Harrogate.

Roscoe

roscoe older gsd

This gorgeous big bear, is 9 yr old, entire male, Roscoe. Housetrained, travels ok. not vaccinated. Roscoe is a typical German Shepherd, forms a strong bond & is protective over those he loves. Barks initially at strangers, but soon settles. Not socialised with other dogs & has never lived with one. Fine with children over 4 yrs. Roscoe loves his walks & even though he is older, still enjoys an active life. Roscoe's owners are emigrating so he needs a new ho

Freddy

freddy gsd

This handsome boy is 7 yr old entire male, Freddy. Was picked up as a stray , has been in kennels several weeks now. Freddy is a great dog, not too bad on the lead. Loves fuss & attention. Clean in his kennel. Not keen on other male dogs. Freddy loves his food & treats. Needs a loving home to call his own.

Rex

rex older gsd

This foxy looking old boy, is Rex, approximately 8 yrs old. Rex has been passed around alot over the last 12 months, passed around family members when they got bored of him. He has lived with children, but would prefer a quiet home. He is quite active still, and no apparent health issues, apart from he is very thin. A nice old chap who deservesa nice retirement home. Microchipped and vaccinated till April 2011.  Rex is good on lead, loves to play and fetch ball, is obedient, will sit and give paw.  Recall good.  Is selective with dogs, but would probably settle with a submissive bitch.  He is super fit and can run like the wind, has now gained weight, is wormed and flea treated.  Cats not known. Has excellent house training and is not destructive.

Monty

monty black gsd

This is 7 yr old , neutered male, Monty. Vaccinated & microchipped. Monty is being left for long hours while owners work, so is becoming increasingly destructive. When Monty was around a year old he chased a sheep, so has not been allowed off lead since then. Years of pent up energy & frustration are making him difficult for the owners to handle. With somebody who understands his needs, Monty will make a fantastic, loyal companion. Needs careful introductions with people, and socialising with other dogs. Cats a definite no

Tizer

tizer gsd

This lovely lady is 10 yr old, spayed bitch, Tizer. Vaccinated & microchipped. Tizer belonged to her current owners son, who died at a young age. Really laid back girl, greets strangers with a sniff! Tizer has lived with children from abies upwards. Cats no. Ok with most other dogs. Housetrained. Has no toy/food possession issues. Walks well on the lead. Tizer is a friendly old girl, who is in good health.

Ellie

ellie blcak gsd

This is 7 yr old, spayed bitch, Ellie. A really energetic, playful girl, who is great with children, but would probably knock little ones over! Ellie is vaccinated and travels well. Ellies owner died a few months ago & since then Ellie has been in kennels. She is very friendly with people. Ellie is quite dominant with other dogs, and dislikes small ones. Ideally a home where she is the only dog, or one who wont be bossed around! Cats unknown. Ellie is in good health. Needs a nice active home.

This is the lovely Morgan - how could you resist her?

morgan playing with her toys

Morgan is very affectionate & loves being around people and is fine about people coming in the house. She would need someone around most of the time so maybe a young ish retired couple/person as she gets lonely. Morgan would be ok to live with children aged 12 and over, and would prefer not to live with cats. She cant be homed with other dogs. Morgan needs regular medication for her eyes, but it is not an expensive treatment.
