Molly - yet another dog dumped in the pound

There are some people that still don't believe that the dog pounds exist or that thousands of healthy dogs are destroyed every year. Here is anotehr example of a dog that was dumped and ended up in the pound

This was Molly when we first saw her - unloved and unwanted

Molly was picked up as a stray and taken to the council kennels. She is about 5 years old. A lovely natured girl but in awful condition, as a result of years of neglect. Her coat wass so matted that the clumps were almost touching the ground. We thought she was also grossly overweight. Molly was so nice we thought she didn't deserve to be treated like this.

Molly has just gone inot a foster home and after a lot of hardwork on the coat and body condition - this is Molly now:

Who's a pretty girl then?

Molly is now looking for her forever home, this is what her foster carer says:

Molly was in very poor condition when she was taken to the Council kennels.  She had clearly been very neglected for some time.  She has now been with a foster carer since mid November and has had the benefit of a visit to the groomers.  The fosterer describes her as follows.

Virtues – Friendly, playful, affectionate, bright, no aggression either inside or outside the house, good with other dogs, good with children (not tested with under 10s but would probably be OK), good on the lead, good in the car, will fetch a ball.

Vices – none really, she doesn’t know her name very well yet so not so good at recall, but that will improve with training.

She is a large dog with thick fur which makes her look even bigger.  She will make a good pet in pretty much any family situation.

There are thousands of dogs like Molly that end up in the council dog pounds. Molly is one of the lucky ones. Thousand of dogs are still being destroyed every year - their crime, being surplus to requirement.
