Dogs for Adoption - Urgent case German Shepherd Puppies and Dogs looking for homes
"The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog." George Graham Vest
The dog pounds are still full. The two breeds most at risk are GSD's and Staffies. Their crime - to be surplus to requirement. Unwanted and unloved. WE URGENTLY NEED FOSTER HOMES AND KENNEL SPACES. REST IN PEACE
Please do not overlook taking on an older German Shepherd dog looking for a home. They have the same right to a nice home as younger dogs.
Maverick

This stunner is 6 yr old, long coated Maverick. He is neautered, vaccinated and microchipped. Maverick is in desperate need of exercise, his current owners can't handle him on walks, so don't walk him at all. He is carrying a lot of excess weight, which at his age is unhealthy. He is a very strong willed boy, who needs a strong owner to teach him to behave. He barks at other dogs when out, and at passing cars, but our assessor took him out and after a few minutes he stopped this. Housetrained. Travels ok.With a little time and the correct care & training, Maverick will be an amazing dog.
Mollie - living on her own!!

This pretty lady is 9 yr old Mollie. She is an absolute sweetheart and needs a home as she was being picked on by the owners other dog. She is currently being fed in the morning, then left in the house on her own, until the following morning. She is housetrained. Travels well. Walks really well on and off lead. She is spayed and in good health. Fine with cats. A lovely, placid girl who just needs a nice retirement home.
Skye

Sky is a lovely-natured, gentle and obedient, fully house trained GSD Cross semi longhaired entire Bitch - quite small for a GSD. She was abandoned to the care of the lady currently kindly looking after her about 3 months ago. We think Sky has had 3 owners in her life. She is absolutely easy, friendly with adults, children and other dogs and with a really quiet calm nature. No aggression to either visitors to the house or to anyone near her food. Aged 5 or 6 years, but very fit and lovely-looking. No behavioural issues apart from that she pulls on the lead ( but fine when the lady bought a Halti for that). Good recall and will sit and go to her basket when commanded. Currently in York, she needs a loving, forever home, where she will return affection with interest.
Milo

This is 5 yr old neutered male, Milo. He is a lovely friendly dog, good with children, and good with other dogs. He gets very excited at walk time, and would make a rubbish guard dog! No known health issues. Milo can be a little possessive over his food, but never bitten. A really nice alround temperament.
Alfie and Megan - owners emigrating

Alfie is a semi length coat and Megan is a short coat, they are half brother sister one month between them. They have beautiful temperaments. Both dogs are use to cats being around. They are very well behaved and clean animals, they have been use to living in or outdoors . Both dogs are excellent with children and other dogs, they love walks and love to meet people, they will sit or go down when told to. They are good meeting other dogs as long as the other dog has the same good temperament. Megan has been spayed but Alfie is still entire. Owners are emigrating ealry April.
Deano

Deano is about 18months old and in the house is the perfect dog - he is very quiet, house trained and gentle with kids and visitors. He loves attention - although is fine without it - his tail is constantly wagging and his favourite toy is his treat ball! When its just you and him walking he is excellent on the lead - he does like to walk ahead but will stop with a small tug. He is still about 4kilo's underweight and the vet has suggested that he is kept to a bland diet. At the moment he is eating canned food from the vet. he loves food and is always looking hopeful when i come out the kitchen! he's had his first vaccination (19/2) and has been wormed. He's a great escapologist and always runs to the door when we go to open it. he is also more than capable of climbing over a 6ft fence! He's broken a collar and has learnt how to somehow escape from his harness, he doesnt know his name yet and his recalls require some attention. His main problem is he doesnt like other animals so this will need to be worked on. Deano will therefore need an experienced owner and further training.
Tia

This is 5 yr old unspayed bitch, Tia. She has a fantastic temperament, loves children, loves to play and is obsessed with her squeaky toy snowman! She greeted our assessor with a lovely waggy tail. Tia has had some training, she knows sit, stay, paw etc. Not food or toy possessive. She is quite overweight, not getting walked at all, just left for 12 hours everyday while the owner works. She pulls on the lead at first, but hardly surprising. Tia was attacked by a dog when she was younger, so she isnt keen on other dogs when out on walks. This needs working on. Dislikes cats. Needs a home urgently, she is being left far too long.
Kruger

When his owners get up in the morning they give Kruger his breakfast and put him in his pen where he is alone all day until about 6.00 in the evening when they let him into the kitchen. He is not allowed beyond there because of the baby who has eczema. Kruger is becoming increasingly distressed and has now started to pace up and down the kitchen crying. Kruger just looks so sad as he is being continuously pushed away and he doesn’t understand why. He is a beautiful dog, his owners got him as a rescue when he was 14 month. He hates cats but loves to play with other dogs he loves the baby but is not allowed near him now. Kruger is a very loyal dog to his owners if shown some love he will immediately settle in.
Rocky

This is the lovely Rocky who despearately needs a home where he will be loved and have some attention. He is kept outside and rarely walked or exercised. The poor lad is bored so he is full of energy and urgently needs a home where they will walk him, play with him and make him part of the family. Rocky is now in foster, he is a big lad seems very calm and placid although he is suspicious of strangers. More about Rocky on our Facebook page
Charly & Thai - Once much loved pets but now living outside in a shed since baby was born

Owner says: Both dogs are 6 years old but not related. They have not been seperated for 5 1/2 years. When they are seperated they do get distressed and pine for each other. Thai has not been neutered and has papers to show he is full german shepherd which also shows his family tree which consists of international winners. Charly is spayed however doesn't have any papers. The dogs have only encountered children in the park or street as there have been no children in the family until recently, my husband and I have had a baby. We live in a terrace house and do not have the space or the time to care for the dogs as they rightly deserve. They are living outside with a shed converted into a kennel for the both of them. It isn't ideal for the dogs. The dogs are playful and very loving with humans. With other dogs they are protective on the lead however when off the lead they play with other dogs, some times they forget how big they are and get a bit boisterious. It has been a hard decision to make, we are very attached to them but the dogs come first and they need more than what we can offer them.
Kane

Kane came to us from the pound his days were up and if we hadn't taken him he would be sleeping with the angels now. We know very little about Kane but we would age him at around 5 yrs old and is a little overweight but we feel that is due to lack of exercise. He is fine on the lead but does not like going back into his kennel. He would maybe be best placed with no children or at least young children simply because we do not know his back ground. Also someone who is going to be firm and show him leadership. He is entire.
Jessy

Jessy is absolutely gorgeous, no problems at all with her in the kennels. We rescued her from the dog pound where her days were up. Good with the other dogs in the kennel.
Scrogs
.jpg)
Scrogs is an Anatolian x GSD's, she's a big dog but has an absolutely lovely temperament, everybody falls in love with her. She was handed in to the pound and her time was up so came into our rescue. She is Ok with cats and other dogs. Her recall is really good and she is just a really lovely girl who will give soembody a lot of pleasure.
Charlie - neglected and unwanted

Charlie is about 7 years old, he was in the pound and due to be pts so we took him into our care. He is a lovely boy, he has a cauliflower ear which is probably due to neglect.
Bess

Bessie is a very sweet and good natured black and tan, short haired, unspeyed girl who showed her affection for our Assessor by giving her a huge lick. She is quiet in the house and obeys basic commands. Bessie is not good with cats. She is good with dogs she knows, but would need very careful introduction to new ones as she does show aggression towards them. She has never lived with children but our Assessor was told she is good with an 8+ year old. Bessie does not chew furniture, loves to travel and is fully housetrained. She does pull on the lead, but with training this could be cured. Bessie loves to play ball and loves water.
Storm

Storm has been a lovely boy in kennels. He is flighty, jumping and has a little nibble at hands, but is just happy to be out. Storm has a lot of nervous energy, and is clearly showing signs of being stressed at being in kennels. Food isn't much of a motivation, but the sight of a lead certainly attracts his attention. An active home would be preferred to burn off all this excess energy.
Smokey - NE in kennels nearly 18mths now

Smokey has been no problem at all since he arrived, and loves just lying around in the runs. That is apart from when he is playing football with the volunteers. He does need work around other male dogs. However on the other side he is infactuated with a female dog called Lola, and they have even spent time in the run together off lead. Smokey has been good around people, no matter who has walked him, and apart from the one issue with another male dog, has been a real star.
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
