Dogs for Adoption - Urgent case German Shepherd Puppies and Dogs looking for homes
"The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog." George Graham Vest
The dog pounds are still full. The two breeds most at risk are GSD's and Staffies. Their crime - to be surplus to requirement. Unwanted and unloved. WE URGENTLY NEED FOSTER HOMES AND KENNEL SPACES. REST IN PEACE
Please do not overlook taking on an older German Shepherd dog looking for a home. They have the same right to a nice home as younger dogs.
DO NOT RING ENQUIRING ABOUT THE DOGS UNLESS YOU HAVE FILLED IN AN APPLICATION FORM ONLINE AND HAVE HAD YOUR HOME CHECK.
Harvey

Harvey is a 20 months old neutered puppy/teenager and fine specimen of a GSD. He was rescued from an irresponsible owner who had no understanding of GSDs and heartlessly had him booked at the vet to be PTS. Despite all the stress that Harvey has suffered his true nature has not been affected and he is a gentle giant and very trusting. He is intelligent and responding well to proper training in his foster home. He is very clean and calm in the house. He is good when left alone. If he is in the garden he will bark to let you know what is going on around, unless he is occupied with a game or a good bone. He is always ready to play and loves his toys, especially his ball. He walks well on the lead and in busy traffic. He can be strong and naturally cautious when he meets people and barks but responds to the same routine and calm training. Because he is a large puppy there is more to handle when he gets excited to see you and jumps up, or wants to play or sit on your lap for a cuddle. Harvey was attacked by two adult GSDs when he was a small puppy so his fosterer is working on his socialisation with other dogs but has high hopes that with ongoing training the dog aggression will be overcome. However, it would be best if he was rehomed as an only dog. He needs a confident and firm owner who will keep up the ongoing training but in return will be rewarded with a GSD who has a wonderful non-aggressive temperament and very endearing character.
Oscar

Oscar is going to need a very experienced GSD owner, no kids, not sure on other dogs at the moment but is reacting to the others in kennels but that may be because he is stressed. This dog has been completely left to rule the roost, so will need a firm owner and boundaries setting. Stunning looking dog.
Wolfie

This very handsome boy, is entire male, Wolfie. Originally came to us as a stray. Wolfie is very stressed in the kennels. Greets all kennel staff & our assessor with lovely, friendly waggy tail. He is nervous around doors, but is improving. Approximately 12-18mths old. Wolfie needs somebody to build his confidence.
Delboy

This handsome boy, is 5 yr old long coat, Delboy. A gentle and friendly dog, who lives with small children. Fine with other dogs on walks, cats unknown. Delboy is entire, and vaccinated. Does pull on the lead, has good recall, knows basic commands. Our assessor described Delboy as 'not nervous, nor aggressive, just a beautiful friendly dog.' Will make a super dog for any family.
Buster

This boy is in URGENT need of a home, his owner has had to leave and now Buster is in the home on his own. Family members are walking, and feeding Buster but he is living alone.. He is getting stressed and we need him into a home NOT KENNELS. Buster is we think around 5 yrs young, he is a short coated neutered( well volunteer couldn't find any) male he has lived with children from the ages of 18 months, 5yr & 7yrs so he is fine with them. We are not sure about cats. Our volunteer took Buster out and he didn't seem bothered either by her dog or people walking by.Buster can be touch all over and isn't bothered. He was a little protective when she went into HIS garden with her dog but nothing to worry about. Is there any one who would give this loveley boy a home. I will be glad to talk in depth to get him a home .
Earth
![]()
Earth is a very frustrated large black and tan long coated entire dog. Due to his owners ill health he never gets out of the house other than into the garden where he is driven crazy by next doors staffy. He is a stunning dog but will need some work. He is so bored at being pent up all day inside that he is overwhelmed once he's out. Just wants to sniff everything and see everything at 100 mph. Owner says he is OK with female dogs. A very highly strung dog who needs to get out of his current situation and fast for his sake and his owners. He needs a very committed person with plenty of time to take him on. He will be a great dog if the work is put in.
TJ

This handsome man is 2 year old entire TJ. He is currently in another kennels where he is petrified but has been fine with his handlers. He has not been socialised with other dogs outside of the home and was taken into rescue for fighting with one of the other dogs. He has never been let off the lead for a good run. This young man just needs an experienced home where he will get the training and exercise a dog of this age needs. We would not rehome him with young children as we do not know his full history.
Wendle

Wendle is a 5 year old male. He can be slightly aloof but is a very confident dog. He will be very loyal to his handler but will become protective of them and his territory. Wendle is alert but quiet. He is fit and healthy. He is not keen on other dogs. This boy will need an experienced and understanding handler.
Stella

Stella is a 7 year old unsprayed bitch. She does not like other dogs, however she is not aggressive towards them. She does not like cats either. Stella is strong on the lead so will need training. She is good with children but because she has not had much if any training, we would rehome with older children only. She is only being rehomed as her owners has had to move into accommodation where dogs are not allowed.
Milly an Abbey - DESPERATE situation

These 2 sisters are 7 years young and have never been apart. Neither are spayed or vaccinated. Millie is on the left and Abbey the right of the photo. The girls are very friendly and have been fine with the owner’s children of all ages. Apart from the family Jack Russel, they have never been socialised with other dogs. Millie & Abbey have spent all their lives living in the yard with a brick built kennel. They have never lived in a house, worn a collar or been on a walk so have never seen anything outside of their property. They are in desperate need of a groom and human affection. Being rehomed as owner is having to leave the property. Can you help?
Rocky - desperately overweight through lack of excercise

This gorgeous boy is 5 yr old, neutered male, Rocky. Desperately overwieght, as he isnt getting any exercise. Rocky has an issue with his lead, and grabs it out of owners hand, so owner not confident enough to walk him now. Rocky is ok with other dogs, if introduced correctly. Barks at cats, Rocky has never mixed with children. Barks initially at visitors, then greets them in a very friendly manner. Vaccinated & microchipped. Needs a firm owner who will teach Rocky how to behave!
Crystal

This stunning little lady, is 11 month old, unspayed bitch, Crystal. A highly strung, lively girl, who needs discipline. Crystal is vaccinated, and housetrained. Lives with another dog but can be quite aggressive with him when she gets over excited. Crystal barks at alot of things, and this needs addressing. Fine with older children. Crystal would benefit from a very active lifestyle.
Meg and Fern - very urgent

Fern (top) and Meg (bottom) are in DESPERATE NEED FOR A HOME BY THE 4th AUGUST as their owner must be out of their home by then. Fern is 12 years old and is slightly arthritic on her back legs. Meg is 8 years young and really wants to have a good run. Both dogs are spayed and good with other dogs. They have super temperaments and are good with children.
Simba

Simba is an 8 year old spayed butch. She is a loyal and trusting dog with people when she has sussed them out. She does live with cats but isn’t that tolerant of them. Her basic commands are good and she is ok on the lead. We wouldn’t rehome her with young children as Simba does suffer from epilepsy which is controllable with medication. SIMBA MUST BE REHOMED BEFORE THE 2nd AUGUST as her owner is losing his accommodation.
Suzie and Bruno - do you have a big heart?

This is Suzie & Bruno, both 10 yrs old. Bruno is neutered, Suzie not spayed. Neither vaccinated or microchipped. As you can see, these lovely older dogs have been very neglected and both could do with going to see the groomer. Poor Suzie looks terrified and neither look as if they have been walked in a long time. It would be lovely for them to stay together in a home where they would get the love they really do deserve. Lovely dogs and so sad to see that they have been treated like this.
Zac

ZAC is a 3yr old boy neutered, vaccinated until june 2011 he is also micro chipped. The owners baught him at 6 weeks old and he grown up with a child who is 6 yr's old who can do anything with him. Although, zac is fine with the little boy and his friends, his owner is always a little concerned when he has friends over to play, because Zac is quite protective of the child. ZAC is good with most other dogs but not with any other animals, has chased cats, rabbits, birds, sheep and horses. He never chews when left at home, likes going in the car, and he's not really a vocal dog. He loves baths but tries to grab the brush when groomed. he has always lived in doors and is fully house trained. He does sometimes have a sensitive tummy, and so is fed with a sensitive dry food. Although he did go to some training classes when he was younger, due to the owners illness, he has not been walked very much and he does pull when walked, probably due to excitement at being out. He would need a strong owner with some GSD exp. he has no medical issues. He is very active so would need a younger fit owner. He has absolutely no food or toy aggression as the owner demonstrated. All in all a cracking dog who will make a fantastic companion for the right family.
Bella

This lovely girl, is 8 yr old, spayed bitch, Bella. Microchipped, booster due now. Housetrained & good in the car. Bella is a nervous girl, who is wary of strangers & new situations. Bella gets quite anxious around other dogs, so needs help to overcome these issues. She likes having a bath & with people she trusts is loving. Cats no. Due to her nervous nature we wont rehome with children.
Lady

This is Lady, approx 7 years old, spayed bitch. Lady was left behind when her owners moved out, and a neighbour took her in. Unfortunately she is too much for this person to handle. Lady is quite a dominant girl, strong on the lead. She isnt keen on other dogs when out, and has attacked when off lead. With the right , experienced, firm owner, Lady will be a great girl. She just needs leadership. Housetrained. Fine with people. Cats unknown. Lady is overweight & bored, and this is coming out in her behaviour. Upto date wuth vaccinations.
Bruno and Rosco - terrible life

Bruno & Rosco's owner has recently died, leaving them alone with a relative popping in each day to feed them. They are 5 yr old , enitre brothers, who have never left the garden that they live in. They sleep in the shed at night & have the run of the garden in the day. Its no wonder when our assessor went out they jumped all over her in excitement to see somebody. Not vaccinated. Not microchipped. Never been in a car, or walked on a lead. These 2 boys need to be rehomed together as that is all they have ever known & are close. The relative isnt sure which one is Bruno, & which is Rosco. Will make wonderful dogs for somebody willing to give them some time & teach them how to enjoy life.
Zoe

This is 7 yr old, unspayed bitch, Zoe. A really lovely friendly girl with adults & children. In good health. Vaccinated, booster due July '10. Dislikes cats. Zoe is not keen on other dogs, & although she has always lived with her sister Petra, also up for rehoming, is too dominant with her, so we are rehoming them separately. Travels well in the car. Not microchipped. Lives outside, but could be integrated easily into living indoors. Bit possessive over food with other dogs. Doesnt chew when left. A really playful dog who will brighten up anybodys life.
Tasha

This pretty lady is 2 yr old, unspayed bitch, Tasha. Housetrained ,vaccinated & microchipped. Tasha lives with another dog, but is quite bossy, possessive over her toys. Older children only. Cats unknown. Pulls on the lead at first, but soon settles. Would benefit from training & socialising, ideally to live with an older steady dog. Doesnt chew when left. Has good recall. Has an undershot jaw, but it is hardly noticeable & causes her no problems.
Jack

Jack is aged 6 DOB October 2003. Jack is a long coat Black and tan boy who is clipped quite regularly. Jack has been a guard dog for his owners Newsagents and is being rehomed due to the Newsagents being sold and the owners going to live abroad. Not microchipped and not up to date with vaccinations. Jack has never had a reason to go to the vets and has no health issues. Jack has not lived with cats or other dogs and has only lived with the owners older children. So a home with no children or older children. Jack is house trained and has never been destructive. Jack knows his basic commands and understands English and Punjabi, he loves his pink towel and likes to play tug of war, its like a comfort blanket too him. Has been fed a gourmet diet. Good on lead pulls for the first few minutes into the walk but soon settles down, ignores other dogs on a walk. Has never been let off lead so recall not known. Jack reacted to the volunteer by barking on entry into the shop, but took treats gently and was fine with the volunteer during the interview and photo session. Jack is like a big teddy bear. Has no food aggression, travels OK but only likes going short distances.
Trevor

Trevor is a gorgeous semi tan & black spayed boy who will be 4 in May. He was rehomed to his current family after his previous owners split. He has lived with small children and is OK around livestock as he lived on a farm. He did have issues with traffic when on a walk but that has been overcome although still a little nervous and is constantly observing his surroundings when out and about. Trevor is a big strong dog that would need a confident, experienced GSD owner as he needs to know the rules and boundaries and is prepared to work on his social skills around people and dogs in order to build his confidence.
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
