Dogs for Adoption - Urgent case German Shepherd Puppies and Dogs looking for homes

"The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog." George Graham Vest

The dog pounds are still full. The two breeds most at risk are GSD's and Staffies. Their crime - to be surplus to requirement. Unwanted and unloved. WE URGENTLY NEED FOSTER HOMES AND KENNEL SPACES. REST IN PEACE

Please do not overlook taking on an older German Shepherd dog looking for a home. They have the same right to a nice home as younger dogs.

Poppy

poppy abadoned gsd

Poppy was picked up last week in East Sussex with a note sellotaped to her collar saying “My name is Poppy and I am 6”. The nice lady who picked her up has found no issues with Poppy. She loves people but unfortunately the lady’s current dog does not like Poppy. Not much else is known about her.

Rocky

rocky the gsd

This is the lovely Rocky who despearately needs a home where he will be loved and have some attention. He is kept outside and rarely walked or exercised. The poor lad is bored so he is full of energy and urgently needs a home where they will walk him, play with him and make him part of the family.

Suzie

suzie

This is 6 year old Suzie. Not known if she is spayed. Suzie was handed in to the pound on Christmas Eve with her 8 year old companion, George. They are being rehomed separately as Suzie is too bossy with George. She is a lovely, friendly girl, but does need boundaries. She pulls on the lead, but her recall is very good. Not much is known about Suzie's background, however, she really is a nice girl, who will make you smile with her cheekiness.

Rio

rio gsd

Rio is a 7-year old Black & Tan neutered male, currently in Cheshire.  Since his owners’ separation, he has been living in a shed with an outdoor run. He is OK with most dogs, but does not like cats.  We don’t know what he would be like with children, so we would not wish to rehome him to a family with younger children.  House-trained and vaccinated, this handsome lad desperately needs a knowledgeable, loving home.

Bud

bud

Bud is a 2-year old, neutered, Black & Tan, short-haired male.  He is a big boy, who showed no aggression whatsoever towards our volunteer when she visited.  A striking looking dog and the family love him dearly, but their personal circumstances force his rehoming.  He is still a playful puppy, who hasn’t matured yet and lives with a young child.  He has loads of energy and needs a home where he will get lots of exercise and the experienced handling to help him grow up.  We don’t know what he is like with other dogs.  He is currently in Lancashire and needs a new home quickly as his owner finds it necessary to move house.

Charly & Thai - Once much loved pets but now living outside in a shed since baby was born

charly and thai

Owner says: Both dogs are 6 years old but not related. They have not been seperated for 5 1/2 years. When they are seperated they do get distressed and pine for each other. Thai has not been neutered and has papers to show he is full german shepherd which also shows his family tree which consists of international winners. Charly is spayed however doesn't have any papers. The dogs have only encountered children in the park or street as there have been no children in the family until recently, my husband and I have had a baby. We live in a terrace house and do not have the space or the time to care for the dogs as they rightly deserve. They are living outside with a shed converted into a kennel for the both of them. It isn't ideal for the dogs. The dogs are playful and very loving with humans. With other dogs they are protective on the lead however when off the lead they play with other dogs, some times they forget how big they are and get a bit boisterious. It has been a hard decision to make, we are very attached to them but the dogs come first and they need more than what we can offer them.

Star

star gsd

Star in a 16 month old quite petite Black and Tan, Short Coat unspayed Bitch. Star has had two owners in her short life, we believe she started off life living with an old lady at a farm and was found tied up and painfully thin.  The current family  who have owned her since August 09 have built Star up on several meals a day, and are sad to part with her, but a family member suffers with Asthma.  Star is in foster, and has been very affectionate to the volunteer, she barked on initially seeing her, but then jumped up on her lap and licked her face.  Star has had no training and for a small bitch is exceptionally strong on lead, so will need training but will sit on command.  The owners said they have not let her off lead, as she will run over to other dogs, people, chase cats, bikes and motorcycles.  Star shows quite a lot of puppy tendencies, so our volunteer feels she may not even be 16 months old and is playful and likes to have your company.  She has not been destructive and has been house trained, her previous owners have let her sleep indoors on the sofa and beds and said she has always been clean.  She is not apparently good with dogs, but this is probably not due to being socialised, unfortunately due to currently being in season, foster home is unable to socialise her at the moment.  A beautiful little dog that needs building up with several small meals and exercise, training and socialising with other dogs, and she will shine like her name "STAR".

Kane

kane gsd from the pound

Kane came to us from the pound his days were up and if we hadn't taken him he would be sleeping with the angels now. We know very little about Kane but we would age him at around 5 yrs old and is a little overweight but we feel that is due to lack of exercise. He is fine on the lead but does not like going back into his kennel. He would maybe be best placed with no children or at least young children simply because we do not know his back ground. Also someone who is going to be firm and show him leadership. He is entire.

Jessy

jessy

Jessy is absolutely gorgeous, no problems at all with her in the kennels. We rescued her from the dog pound where her days were up. Good with the other dogs in the kennel.

Scrogs

Scrogs is an Anatolian x GSD's, she's a big dog but has an absolutely lovely temperament, everybody falls in love with her. She was handed in to the pound and her time was up so came into our rescue. She is Ok with cats and other dogs. Her recall is really good and she is just a really lovely girl who will give soembody a lot of pleasure.

Charlie - neglected and unwanted

charlie neglected gsd

Charlie is about 7 years old, he was in the pound and due to be pts so we took him into our care. He is a lovely boy, he has a cauliflower ear which is probably due to neglect.

Bess

bess

Bessie is a very sweet and good natured black and tan, short haired, unspeyed girl who showed her affection for our Assessor by giving her a huge lick.  She is quiet in the house and obeys basic commands. Bessie is not good with cats. She is good with dogs she knows, but would need very careful introduction to new ones as she does show aggression towards them.  She has never lived with children but our Assessor was told she is good with an 8+ year old. Bessie does not chew furniture, loves to travel and is fully housetrained.  She does pull on the lead, but with training this could be cured.  Bessie loves to play ball and loves water.

Storm

storm

Storm has been a lovely boy in kennels. He is flighty, jumping and has a little nibble at hands, but is just happy to be out. Storm has a lot of nervous energy, and is clearly showing signs of being stressed at being in kennels. Food isn't much of a motivation, but the sight of a lead certainly attracts his attention. An active home would be preferred to burn off all this excess energy.

Smokey - NE in kennels nearly 18mths now

smokey

Smokey has been no problem at all since he arrived, and loves just lying around in the runs. That is apart from when he is playing football with the volunteers. He does need work around other male dogs. However on the other side he is  infactuated with a female dog called Lola, and they have even spent time in the run together off lead. Smokey has been good around people, no matter who has walked him, and apart from the one issue with another male dog, has been a real star.

"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion."
