The dog pounds are still full. The two breeds most at risk are GSD's and Staffies. Their crime - to be surplus to requirement. Unwanted and unloved. WE URGENTLY NEED FOSTER HOMES AND KENNEL SPACES. REST IN PEACE
Please do not overlook taking on an older German Shepherd dog looking for a home. They have the same right to a nice home as younger dogs.
Summer - owners have booked vets appt to have her put to sleep in 2 days time
Summer is a black and tan, semi long coated, 1 year old, unspayed bitch. She is not keen on other dogs (although she lives with 3 yorkshire terriers) and has not been introduced to cats. She lives with 2 children, but has recently nipped another child. Summer has developed a protective nature which will need to be managed - she needs to be rehomed by 11th May or she faces being pts.
Razor 4 years
Razor is a black and tan entire male. He has always lived outside, but is housetrained. Razor is an obedient dog but can be protective. When he came into the rescue he was being kept on a chain at the back of the house and was very nervous of strangers. He is learning to trust again and has become a firm favourite with the kennels who have helped rehabilitate this poor lad. He is ready to go to an experienced home but we want the potential new owner to visit him a few times in kennels and get to know him before we let him go.
Leilah - all the way from the USA
Leilah is a large GSD who came to the UK all the way from America but it has not been a good experience for her as she has been passed from pillar to post and spent many months in kennels. She will adore her family, is OK with strangers if introduced properly but she is very, very protective. She needs a rural home with experienced owners without any other dogs.
Diesel
This gorgeous boy is 18mths old and was picked up as a stray. He supposedly hates cars but this is him in a volunteers car! He is a lovely bouncy boy who has had a bad start in life and has had at at least 3 homes although one lasted just 2 hours. Nothing wrong with Diesel just an idiot owner! We are not sure yet what he is like with other dogs and he probably won't like cats. Needs an adult home or home with older children.
Belle
Belle was picked up as a stray and was in a pound due to be pts on 21st April as the pound was full and she had been there for longer than 7 days. We could not let that happen and so found her a place in kennels. She is very friendly with people - seems alert and healthy. Does not like other dogs or animals - probably about 5 or 6 years old.
Rocky-Lee 13mths - SW
Rocky Lee is a 13 month old, black and tan, short coated, neutered male. He has had no socialisation or training - he lives with a 15 year old child with learning difficulties who has teased him relentlessly. Rocky Lee has developed an issue with the child (not surprising) and has shown aggression towards him. Rocky is fine with everyone else. He is an affectionate dog that has been spoilt and shown no boundaries. Rocky Lee needs a new home where he can learn how to behave and where others will behave appropriately towards him. He has not had the opportunity to mix with other dogs and does not like cats.
Ash 4-5yrs - NE needs out of kennels asap
This lovely girl came out of the dog pound. She is vocal in the kennel - she just needs out and into a nice home. A great favourite with the kennel staff but she urgently needs a forever home now.
Sheila 2
This lovely girl is Sheila who is a lovely friendly girl but who has had a bad start in life having been kept as a guard dog in a yard. She is such a gorgeous girl and deperately needs a loving home. She is good with other dogs.
Smoky - NE
Smoky is a lovely gentle boy saved from being put to sleep at the pound at the very last minute. He has been neglected, he is very think and judging by the state of his claws he hasn't been walked. Smashing older boy that will make a lovely pet. Needs a wash and brush up and lots of TLC.
Mack 9 - Just wants hugs and attention. Needs out of kennels asap
This poor older dog could really do with some TLC. He has been found with painful and irritating skin and ear problems that require time and attention to heal, something easily preventable had he had the care every dog needs. He is quite nervous of his new surroundings but has been gentle and obliging with the kennel staff. It is not known how he is with other dogs as yet. Please he really does need somewhere warm and comfortable to be, kennels isn’t the place for any dog but it' really is awful for older dogs.
Sasha
Sasha is 9 and needs a nice quiet retirement home where there are no children. Wary of strangers and not keen on other dogs
Harvey 4 yrs Bristol
This beautiful big boy is 4 years old, a big friendly boy that is not bad with other dogs but the family that had him claimed he had growled at the kids. Experienced home required without young children.
