Layla

This pretty little girl was minutes away from being put to sleep in the pound. Her crime was to be a stray. After spending weeks in the pound, she was so stressed she became aggressive. Our volunteer spent some time with her, gained her trust & she is coming along great now. Only a young girl , approximately 18mths old. Please give the pound dogs a chance, the beautiful Layla, was so close to losing her chance.
Oscar

Oscar is going to need a very experienced GSD owner, no kids, not sure on other dogs at the moment but is reacting to the others in kennels but that may be because he is stressed. This dog has been completely left to rule the roost, so will need a firm owner and boundaries setting. Stunning looking dog.
Wolfie

This very handsome boy, is entire male, Wolfie. Originally came to us as a stray. Wolfie is very stressed in the kennels. Greets all kennel staff & our assessor with lovely, friendly waggy tail. He is nervous around doors, but is improving. Approximately 12-18mths old. Wolfie needs somebody to build his confidence.
Millie

This very pretty lady, is 4 yr old, spayed bitch Millie. Our assessor described Millie as "loves everyone & everything, full of life, a real gem." Millie is vaccinated & microchipped. Housetrained.Millie walks nicely on the lead & has good recall. Millie is good with other dogs, and fine with cats also. Loves children of all ages. Millie is perfect , apart from she hates to be left! She needs a home where somebody is around all of the time. A fantastic girl for any family.
Tyler

Tyler is a large, long coated, entire male, approximately 5 yrs old. He is well socialised and good on the lead. Ty has excellent recall. Tyler doesnt like small enclosed spaces or to be left alone.Once he has learnt to trust you he loves a cuddle, playing ball and just being with you.Tyler needs a confident owner because despite his size, he is really a big softy, and likes the security of knowing you are his leader.
Delboy

This handsome boy, is 5 yr old long coat, Delboy. A gentle and friendly dog, who lives with small children. Fine with other dogs on walks, cats unknown. Delboy is entire, and vaccinated. Does pull on the lead, has good recall, knows basic commands. Our assessor described Delboy as 'not nervous, nor aggressive, just a beautiful friendly dog.' Will make a super dog for any family.
Nesta

This beautiful lady is 5 yr old, spayed bitch, Nesta. Described by our assessor as 'delightful', Nesta is housetrained & upto date with all vaccinations. Fine with children, loves to play ball. Nesta lived with a Jack Russell until recently, and is fine with dogs out on walks. Nesta does need somebody around most of the time, otherwise she gets stressed. Suffers from epilepsy, but this is controlled well by medication & keeping her weight down. A really lovely girl who needs a new home due to a change in her owners circumstances.
Stan

This big boy is 3 yr old, entire male, Stan. A lovely thick coated male, who is vaccinated & microchipped. Stan is housetrained & travels well in the car with a harness restraint. Stan is fine with children ages 4 yrs upwards. He is fine with other dogs, better with bitches. Cats no. Stan lives outside during the day and is used to being left for 7 hours at a time. Has good recall, and walks fine with a halti, but will pull otherwise. Needs a new home asap as his owner is moving house & cannot take Stan with him.
Duke - tormented and beaten since he was a puppy

Duke is approx 15 months old and is a stunning example of the breed, he is very intelligent, loyal and affectionate once he gets to know you. Poor Duke has had a past full of physical mistreatment and mental torment resulting in him being initially concerned when he meets new people so he just needs to be ignored and he will come to you for a cuddle after about 10 minutes. He has been so badly abused his tail had to be removed as it was broken, but it is fully healed and he copes well without it. Duke is very excitable and does still show he is still a puppy by mouthing if you let him, he loves going for walks although he does need further lead work as well as work on his recall, he is a good mannered dog who know basic commands but has the potential to be so much more. Duke is responding well and improving in the foster home, and has settled in nicely with the resident dog and bitch and will happily play all day given a chance. Duke shows no sign of food or toy aggression and does not react to cats or other dogs while out on the lead however he is quick as a flash at opening doors. Duke is a strong minded boy and needs an experienced owner who will give him the rules he needs to know his place in the family structure. Duke is good with older children, and rabbits and he travels well in the car.
Sandy

This lovely girl is with a rescue in Cambridgeshire. Sandy is approx 3 years old. She has been in 2 homes. The first home - she came into us because her owners were moving and couldnt take her with them. The 2nd had her for little over 6 months but as a family they were having issue with her and decided to bring her back. She has been fully Vaccinated and microchipped although I believe she hasnt been spayed. She has some anxiety issues with other dogs though reacts well in time with calm and stable dogs. Seems to approch people with caution, but not aggresion, and once she is happy with that person she becomes very loving. Although she thinks if you are a weak person she can then become the boss. (This is what has happened in 2nd home.)She has a low prey drive and does not seem very interested in cats. All in all a really lovely girl wth a good personality.
Saffy

This beautiful girl, is 13 mth old Saffy. Has had 1st vaccination, not microchipped. Saffy has had a mixed up life so far, spending alot of time in a crate. Has lived with other dogs no problem. Saffy is currently living with 2 cats, but would probably chase them given the chance. Fine with children over 9 yrs old. Saffy hasnt been socialised, so everything is quite scary. Needs confidence building. A really gorgeous dog who would benefit from somebody around alot to train her & integrate her into normal life.
Rocky - desperately overweight through lack of excercise

This gorgeous boy is 5 yr old, neutered male, Rocky. Desperately overwieght, as he isnt getting any exercise. Rocky has an issue with his lead, and grabs it out of owners hand, so owner not confident enough to walk him now. Rocky is ok with other dogs, if introduced correctly. Barks at cats, Rocky has never mixed with children. Barks initially at visitors, then greets them in a very friendly manner. Vaccinated & microchipped. Needs a firm owner who will teach Rocky how to behave!
Suzie and Bruno - do you have a big heart?

This is Suzie & Bruno, both 10 yrs old. Bruno is neutered, Suzie not spayed. Neither vaccinated or microchipped. As you can see, these lovely older dogs have been very neglected and both could do with going to see the groomer. Poor Suzie looks terrified and neither look as if they have been walked in a long time. It would be lovely for them to stay together in a home where they would get the love they really do deserve. Lovely dogs and so sad to see that they have been treated like this.
Holly

Holly was found as a stray wandering the streets by a young girl on her paper round one morning. She kept her safe with her till rescue help came to hand. Upon arriving into rescue it was obvious Holly had been neglected for some time, she could not walk properly her claws had grown so long. She had mange and open sores on her back, and no fur. Hollys ears were badly infected. She was taken to the vets where she let the vet nurse do absolutely anything to her even take skin scrapings from areas of her body and face, and all she kept doing was giving the vet her paw. The vets love her. Holly has been under the vets for a couple of months and her ears and skin are healed and she is now ready to start a new life in a new home. Holly loves people and she has been fine with visiting children of all ages. She was fine with the dogs and cats at the kennels, she can be a little bossy with the other 4 dogs in foster, but they are not the easiest bunch to live with. We feel she would integrate with another social dog. Holly is 8 years old going grey around the muzzle and has a little chunk out of her ear. Holly has been spayed, is fully vaccinated till April 2011 and is microchipped. Holly is house trained and not destructive, she still needs to build up her muscle tone by regular exercise and gain a bit more weight. Holly travels really well. Recall good but will run over to say hello to people and dogs, a little strong on lead. Holly has quite a cheeky character and loves to paddle in her water bowl, play with the hose pipe and loves to paw buckets of water. A lovely friendly girl who deserves a nice retirement home.
Duke

This is 4 yr old, entire male, Duke. Vaccinated & microchipped. Duke lives outdoors in good weather, but does come inside in bad weather. Duke is very playful with other dogs. Cats a definite no. Duke needs to be given space when he meets somebody new, and come to them in his time. Otherwise he will react. Strong on the lead, walks well on a halti/canny collar. Needs an experienced, patient owner with no children.
Bruno and Rosco - terrible life so far.

Bruno & Rosco's owner has recently died, leaving them alone with a relative popping in each day to feed them. They are 5 yr old , enitre brothers, who have never left the garden that they live in. They sleep in the shed at night & have the run of the garden in the day. Its no wonder when our assessor went out they jumped all over her in excitement to see somebody. Not vaccinated. Not microchipped. Never been in a car, or walked on a lead. These 2 boys need to be rehomed together as that is all they have ever known & are close. The relative isnt sure which one is Bruno, & which is Rosco. Will make wonderful dogs for somebody willing to give them some time & teach them how to enjoy life.
Narla

This is one of the saddest rescues possible. 9 yr old Narla & owner devoted to each other, but he has Parkinsons & can no longer care for Narla. This beautiful lady needs somebody to love her as much. She is in good health for her age. Travels well. Housetrained. Not vaccinated, owner always used homeopathic treatments. Narla is fine to live with cats. Not used to children & at her age, needs a quiet household. Narla is wary of men in hats/hoodies & will growl at them. She loves the hosepipe. Narla loves her food & is quite treat motivated. Not keen on other dogs but not aggressive. Good recall. Fine with people visiting, owner has carers in & out all day no problem. Needs somewhere asap.
Tizer

This lovely lady is 10 yr old, spayed bitch, Tizer. Vaccinated & microchipped. Tizer belonged to her current owners son, who died at a young age. Really laid back girl, greets strangers with a sniff! Tizer has lived with children from abies upwards. Cats no. Ok with most other dogs. Housetrained. Has no toy/food possession issues. Walks well on the lead. Tizer is a friendly old girl, who is in good health.
Stan Lee - cheeky young chap, loves to play

How this beautiful young boy came to be picked up and taken to the dog pound, we will never know. Whoever owned him, has looked after him very well. His coat is gorgeous, his teeth beautifully clean and his nails are worn short. He is a little wary especially of men but that is probably because of what has happened to him. He was very stressed in the dog pound but he is now in foster and has completely chilled. He is a lovely calm, well behaved dog who seems fine with other dogs. He may be wearing this beautiful white fur coat instead of a b/t one, but he is still a fine example of a GSD. Someone is going to get a wonderful companion. Stan Lee enjoying a swim. Check out Stan Lee in his foster home with friends
Monty

This is 7 yr old , neutered male, Monty. Vaccinated & microchipped. Monty is being left for long hours while owners work, so is becoming increasingly destructive. When Monty was around a year old he chased a sheep, so has not been allowed off lead since then. Years of pent up energy & frustration are making him difficult for the owners to handle. With somebody who understands his needs, Monty will make a fantastic, loyal companion. Needs careful introductions with people, and socialising with other dogs. Cats a definite no
Jack

Jack is aged 6 DOB October 2003. Jack is a long coat Black and tan boy who is clipped quite regularly. Jack has been a guard dog for his owners Newsagents and is being rehomed due to the Newsagents being sold and the owners going to live abroad. Not microchipped and not up to date with vaccinations. Jack has never had a reason to go to the vets and has no health issues. Jack has not lived with cats or other dogs and has only lived with the owners older children. So a home with no children or older children. Jack is house trained and has never been destructive. Jack knows his basic commands and understands English and Punjabi, he loves his pink towel and likes to play tug of war, its like a comfort blanket too him. Has been fed a gourmet diet. Good on lead pulls for the first few minutes into the walk but soon settles down, ignores other dogs on a walk. Has never been let off lead so recall not known. Jack reacted to the volunteer by barking on entry into the shop, but took treats gently and was fine with the volunteer during the interview and photo session. Jack is like a big teddy bear. Has no food aggression, travels OK but only likes going short distances.
Ruby

This is 6 yr old, unspayed bitch, Ruby. She is a little bit overweight, as her owner doesnt walk her much. She is a happy dog with a few little issues that with the right environment will settle nicely. Ruby walks well on a halti, recall needs work. Ruby has lived with other dogs, but her owner misread playfulness out on walks, as aggression, and Ruby has always been muzzled out on walks. Never lived with children. Greeted our assessor in a friendly manner. Ruby is bored at home, so barks for attention. Needs rehoming asap so she learn how to enjoy herself.
Prince

This handsome boy is 5 yr old, entire male, Prince. Never vaccinated, wormed or flea'd, Prince has never left the farm he is on since he arrived 5 yrs ago as a puppy. He is never lead walked, but just wanders around the field all day. Sleeps outside, is clean in his kennel, so housetraining wouldnt be a problem. Never been in a car. Cats a definite no. Prince is very playful, fetching sticks the whole time the volunteer was there. Loves the hosepipe! Ignores strangers. Took treats gently from the volunteer, but bit fussy! Prince is very focussed on his owner, so needs a home that will be patient & let him come to them at his own pace. Loves the outdoors.
Heidi

This stunner is 3 yr old, spayed bitch, Heidi. She is a lovely semi coated black shepherd, who is not very confident in new situations. She would benefit from living with a well balanced dog. Cats a definite no. Has had some training. Being rehomed because a family member is allergic to her.
