These are some of the dogs being housed in commerical boarding kennels at the rescues expense. Most have come from the dog pounds, all were at risk of being put to sleep. We really could not allow that to happen. Can you sponsor a kennel to help us pay the ever mounting kennel bills so that we can keep more dogs safe. Layla
This pretty little girl was minutes away from being put to sleep in the pound. Her crime was to be a stray. After spending weeks in the pound, she was so stressed she became aggressive. Our volunteer spent some time with her, gained her trust & she is coming along great now. Only a young girl , approximately 18mths old. Please give the pound dogs a chance, the beautiful Layla, was so close to losing her chance.
Oscar
Oscar is going to need a very experienced GSD owner, no kids, not sure on other dogs at the moment but is reacting to the others in kennels but that may be because he is stressed. This dog has been completely left to rule the roost, so will need a firm owner and boundaries setting. Stunning looking dog.
Wolfie
This very handsome boy, is entire male, Wolfie. Originally came to us as a stray. Wolfie is very stressed in the kennels. Greets all kennel staff & our assessor with lovely, friendly waggy tail. He is nervous around doors, but is improving. Approximately 12-18mths old. Wolfie needs somebody to build his confidence.
TJ
This handsome man is 2 year old entire TJ. He is currently in another kennels where he is petrified but has been fine with his handlers. He has not been socialised with other dogs outside of the home and was taken into rescue for fighting with one of the other dogs. He has never been let off the lead for a good run. This young man just needs an experienced home where he will get the training and exercise a dog of this age needs. We would not rehome him with young children as we do not know his full history.
Wendle
Wendle is a 5 year old male. He can be slightly aloof but is a very confident dog. He will be very loyal to his handler but will become protective of them and his territory. Wendle is alert but quiet. He is fit and healthy. He is not keen on other dogs. This boy will need an experienced and understanding handler.
Beany
Beany came to us because his owner faced eviction if the dog was not removed from the rented premises. He is a calm, friendly 5-year old (approximately), who loves just pottering about and doesn’t seem very interested in other dogs. He hasn’t lived with children as far as we know, so we would want him to go to a new home without young children. Currently in kennels in North Yorkshire, where our priority is to get some weight off him through a proper diet and exercise.
Prince
This big, striking boy is 5-year old Prince, abandoned by his owners as ‘surplus to requirements’. He was kept in a yard, so he has not been socialised and, therefore, not good with other dogs. He seems friendly enough when he gets to know you, is very energetic and delights in playing ball. His owners said he is good with children, but we would not rehome him in that situation. We were told that he is vaccinated, but we have no papers. Entire and rather underweight.
Lucky
We have named this poor girl Lucky as she was saved from Death Row. When she arrived at our kennels in North Yorkshire, she was very traumatised, but we are happy to report that she is responding to kindness, although the sight of a lead freaks her. We think she is aged about 4 and is a very pretty long-coated Black and Tan. She is beginning to trust the kennel staff and follows the owner everywhere. She does not seem bothered by the other dogs. Given the right home, we are convinced she will become a very friendly and rewarding companion.
Blue
This lovely boy is Blue. Approx 2 yrs old. Picked up as a stray we have no history on Blue. He is very friendly, doesnt appear to have any aggression in him, just alot of excitement when he sees you. No food aggression. Fine being grooomed. A really nice dog needs out of kennels.
Megan
This cute face belongs to Megan. Approx 6 years old, and not spayed. Megan has had an awful life, kept in a tiny yard, fed on scraps. She is quite underweight, but healthy apart from that. Megan has lived with another gsd, but dominates him, so we have separated them. Megan loves people and affection. Housetrained, travels well. Needs an experienced owner who will have the patience to understand her.
Zara
This pretty little lady, is Zara. Picked up as a stray, and we think she is around 2-3 yrs old. Zara is a little bit nervous, but seems friendly enough when she trusts you. Barks at other dogs on lead, but not aggressivley, in a more palyful manner. Zara needs building up weight wise and confidence wise.
Odin
This cheeky chappy is Odin. Approximately 3 yrs old, entire male. Odin was a stray, so we know little about him. Can be bit nervous of strangers, but seems a nice dog otherwise. In good health.
Freddy
This handsome boy is 7 yr old entire male, Freddy. Was picked up as a stray , has been in kennels several weeks now. Freddy is a great dog, not too bad on the lead. Loves fuss & attention. Clean in his kennel. Not keen on other male dogs. Freddy loves his food & treats. Needs a loving home to call his own.
Gus - the dog with the BIG smile!!
Who cares he isnt a full gsd! Look at that smile! This is gorgeous Gus, who is approximately 6 years old & entire. Gus has lived with another dog all of his life, but their owner died recently & they have been split up. Gus is upto date with vaccinations, and has been a well loved family pet. He is just a big cuddle teddy bear, who needs a nice place to call home now after the upheaval he has been through. Fine with other dogs, and loves children, especially if they come armed with balls of any size!
Mosey
Mosey is not a pure GSD he will be 9 yrs young in June he is castrated. He did live with his owner at a care home. He has not had contact with young children so best homed to an adult home. . Our volunteer went to see Moses who took a shine to the male volunteer,Mosey has been loved and well cared for unfortunately his lady owner is ill and that is the only reason for parting. Mosey is now in kennels, he is doing fine but I would guess missing being able to run (when he likes) in his large garden. Since being in kennels Mosey has been ok he was unsure at first and needed a muzzle but he is now fine and can be taken out and let off lead he comes back when called. We are not sure what he is like with other dogs in the past he was not taken out much. He doesn't seem to be bothered by the other dogs in the kennels. This boy deserves a chance to get back by the fireside and enjoy life to the full, please don't over look him, he may not be pure GSD his mother was a full GSD go and visit him and see what you think after you have met this boy. Mosey is in kennels near Harrogate.
Hamish
Hamish is a 4 year old neutered male. He gets very excited and tends to jump up, he just needs someone who can spend time with him, training him properly. He is probably better off in a house with older children as he can get very giddy. He is a big dog and very timid until he gets to know you. He is very strong and pulls on the lead.

This is Max who is 8 years old and has been a working dog all his life. He worked for the prison service and then a private security company. He looks as if he has endured a hard life. Read more about Max
