Please help put an end to this appalling cruelty

The many articles published now on the dog and cat fur trade have confirmed that German Shepherd dogs are the most commonly used in China as their fur resembles that of wild animals such as coyote or raccoon.

We want as many people as possible who are as passionate about German Shepherds as we are to add their voices and campaign to try and get this evil trade stopped. You can help by signing the petition(s), writing to your MP's or handing out leaflets to members of the public who are unaware that this trade even exists. We need to drum up as much support as possible in order to put as much pressure on the politicians as possible who have the power to get this stopped. Here are just a few ways we would like to you to help although we are sure there are many other things you can do as well

Contact any organisations or people that you know who are involved with German Shepherds and encourage them to get involved in in helping to stop this evil trade Leaflets to hand out can be found on the heathermillsmccartney website or PETA or Humane Society Its terrible that these things are happening to any animal at all but to think it is happening to 'mans best friend' and such a loyal and sensitive friend like the German Shepherd is beyond belief.

With the Bejing Olympics approaching in 2008 the worlds attention will be focused on China and we need to make them aware that the civilised world will not tolerate this cruelty to animals. There is also horrific abuse in China involved in the dog meat eating trade where their culture believes that 'torture equals taste' and consequently these poor dogs suffer terrible abuse before they are slaughtered.

The US has already banded the trade thanks to The Humane Society (hsus.org) who have been at the forefront of the investigations into this trade. They aired a documentary on the trade and the public reaction lead to a complete ban. The Humane Society and PETA, both American based, are the two main charities trying to get this banded in Europe, along with Heather McCartney.

Ian Pearson, Minister for Trade, Investment and Foreign Affairs says that so far the Government has no corroborated evidence that such fur is entering the UK and that the UK government will not ban the trade until it is found in the UK...

BUT John Barrett MP, has stated in writing that large amounts of dog and cat fur are being stored in the UK before being transported elsewhere, an estimated £40 million business. This smells of a big cover. Storing the fur in the UK is as appalling as selling it here. This question has been forward to Ian Pearson, asking him to comment but as yet there has been no reply!!
