The dog pounds are still full. The two breeds most at risk are GSD's and Staffies. Their crime - to be surplus to requirement. Unwanted and unloved. WE URGENTLY NEED FOSTER HOMES AND KENNEL SPACES. REST IN PEACE
Please do not overlook taking on an older German Shepherd dog looking for a home. They have the same right to a nice home as younger dogs.
Sasha - SW
Sasha is a 4 year old, sable, short haired, bitch. It is not known whether she is spayed or not - the owner has had her for 18 months and she has not had a season. She came from a rescue in a poor state and was quite depressed but she has now been nursed back to health. She is a very placid dog and in the lasts 3 months she has started to enjoy playing with a ball. She is a sensitive dog and does not like loud noises or a busy environment. She can be wary of men. Sasha does not like to be left alone - she gets on well with other dogs and children, but does not like cats. Sasha is being rehomed due to her owners health problems.
Blaze
Blaze is a 1 year old, Black and tan, short coated, neutered male. Blaze is good with children, dogs and lives with cats, although he does chase them to try to get them to play with him. Blaze is quite territorial of his home and will bark at strange visitors to the home and is nervous and wary, with people he knows he is placid and plays. He is not destructive, suffers from travel sickness, house trained and has good recall and knows his basic commands. Blaze is looking for a experienced home who will work with him and his nervousness to new people, it is thought he was abused in his previous home.
Kai 1 year old
Kai is about 1 year old, long coated, black and tan, entire male. He is looking for a new home as he does not like the resident cats. Kai is very good with people and children, but does not like dogs or cats and would be best suited to a rural home. Kai is well behaved, toilet trained, not destructive and very loving.
Archie 3 - AT RISK
Archie is a big puppy at heart and loves to play with toys. He was never socialised as a puppy so has a lot to learn. He does not do well in kennels at all and we would rather him be rehomed quickly. He needs an experienced owner who is firm but fair, gives him lots of love and walks (poor Archie is never walked), and who will introduce him to the world outside so that he can enjoy life. Archie is living with his owners at the moment until a new home comes up for him but he is on limited time and cannot stay their for too long.
Bear, Zeus and Wolf - Homeless as owner evicted
Bear is a 3 year old, black, long coated, entire female who is mother to Wolf. She along with Zeus and Wolf are looking for a new home as thier owner is being evicted. Bear has a lovely temperament, she is a inquisitive dog and loves her walks. Bear is good with people and children, lives with a cat but will chase and is good with other dogs. Bear is a active girl and will need a experienced gsd handler who is able to give her the activity she requires.
Zeus is a 2 year old, black and tan, short coated, neutered male who along with Wolf and Bear is looking for a new home as thier owner is being evicted. Zeus is a absolute sweetie, very gentle in nature, laid back and a good all rounder dog. He is a very large lad, good with other dogs, has lived with cats and good with children.Zues will make a great pet and if possible we would like to rehome him with Wolf his son.
Wolf is 12 months old, sable, long coated, enire male. He is a very handsome boy and is son of Zeus and Bear. Wolf has a lovley nature, is good with dogs and children and has lived with cats but does chase. He loves to play with his dad and the play can get boisterous, if possible we would like to rehome him with Zeus.
Max 10mths old
Max is a 10 month old, very pretty mostly black with tan fringes, semi long coated, entire male. He is looking for a new home as his owners are moving. Max is living with two shih Tzu's but has never been soicialised with other dogs, he needs a new home without cats or children. Max is a nervous boy who has not been socialised or trained or given any boundaries. He is looking for a experienced home where someone can guide him through adolescence and allow him to blossom into a stable young male.
Shep SW - 15 mths old
SHEP is approx 10 month old, beautiful pup, lively and good on the lead, will sit and stay. He will bond easily looking for love 24/7. Shows aggression when on the lead because he is insecure, will with a bit of dedication by experienced person come out of that. Very nice little dog
Jasper 2 SW
JASPER about 2 years old, obedience trained, very biddable, good with other dogs, no children or cats, laid back. Loves people but will protect. Will make a loyal friend
Murphy and Purdy - owners emigrating end Nov
Murphy is a 6 year old, longhaired, black and tan, neutered male. Purdy is a 4 year old, short coated, black and tan, neutered female. These two need a home together as they adore one another, they are looking for a new home as their owners are emmigrating at the end of November. Murphy is a gentle boy who loves people, gets on well with other dogs and is ok with cats. Purdy loves people and is very loving, she will tolerate another dog and is not so good with cats.
Gemma
This lovely young girl was picked up as a stray, very thin and terrified. Not much is known about her but she is stressed and needs out of kennels asap. Gorgeous young girl that needs an experienced home to help her get over her ordeal.
Bruno - very sad case.
Bruno is a 8 year old, black and tan, short coated, entire male. Bruno has had a terrible life so far, he was kept in a car all day until of a evening when he was let into a yard as a deterrent, this was his existence until he was taken in by a kind person who feared another winter in the cold would be detrimental to his health he is currently living in a home. Unfortunately though Bruno does not like the resident cats and is desperately looking for a home to call his own. It is unknown how he is with dogs but he ignores them on walks, he loves cuddles and is very affectionate.
Seth - Central
Entire male, lovely old fashioned type GSD, who is such a fun dog and desperately needs out of kennels as he is bored. Whoever gets him will be getting bags of enjoyment and will need to be fit! He is a little bit overweight but will soon run that off when he gets into his new home. Wasn't bothered with the dogs in the next kennel or the goats. He will undoubtedly guard his territory which his new owners need to be aware of. A years supply of traffic cones will be supplied FOC. Does need an experienced owner who will be the boss and a home without very young children.
Duke 8yrs London
Duke an 8 year old neutered male with hip dysplasia who was unsuccessfully rehomed but is now back with his rescue (not his fault) and is very very unsettled and stressed. He is suitable to live with dogs, as long as they are used to living with other dogs and cats. He is extremely affectionate and bonds very quickly.
Bo Bo - Lovely big boy
Bo Bo is a big dog who loves a game and is quite active, but after a bit of running around he wants to have a steady walk and a lay down We think that he would probably be better suited in an adults only home he is the only dog and where perhaps children just visit. He loves company and is content to sit with you at the gate etc and watch the world go by. He is unsafe loose around livestock.
Ben - owners emigrating
Ben is a 4 year old, black and tan, short haired, entire male. He is a nervous dog having been abused when he was younger and takes to time to be confident around strangers - he is not aggressive but will bark and run away from people at the front door. Ben likes to play but is quiet and nervous - he is very affectionate with his owner. He will bark at other dogs when out, but has mixed with other dogs in the home when the owner has 'dog sat' for friends - he tends to be more confident around smaller dogs. Ben hates cats. He is good with children. Ben is being rehomed as his owner is moving abroad..
Trixie
Trixie is a beautiful young bitch that loves people and loves to play. She is a very active dog who loves to run around all day but needs an experienced home. She is aggressive towards other female dogs but OK with males. She has been in kennels far too long which is a shame as she is such a loving dog towards people. We feel it would be detrimental to keep her in kennels any longer.
Sheba - very distressed in kennels
We think Sheba is 2/3 DOB April. She is not a large bitch and she been kept at home in the garden not mixed with other dogs or people. When she came to us she was very scared and so aggressive. She is doing very badly in kennels and needs an understanding home quickly. We are not sure about anything with her, so a nice quiet loving home either older children or no children, she may eventually mix with other dogs but again we don't know.
Barney SW - Experienced owner only. AT RISK
Barney - has returned from Prison service due to lack of motivation/concentration. He is now desperate to find a good home as the rescue that own him want to have him put to sleep!! Needs experienced handler. Lovely responsive dog once bonded with handler, strongly guards. Can be possessive over food.
Keizer- 8 NW
Keizer is an 8 year old, black and tan, short haired, entire male. He loves people and is generally friendly. He is fine with the owners teenage children when they visit. Keizer is very protective towards his owner and will guard her. She is pregnant and due to his protective nature he is being rehomed due to concerns about his reaction to the baby. Keizer hates cats, sheep and other dogs, having been attacked by another dog as a puppy. He is well behaved and obedient and needs a new home.
Harvey 4 yrs - nearly 1 year in kennels!!
Harvey is a big, beautiful 4 year old, entire male who has spent a lot of time in kennels. He is not good with other dogs generally but if properly introduced would accept a placid bitch. Harvey is a loyal dog once he has got to know you however he is very nervous and would need an experienced owner who has a lot of GSD knowledge and isn’t fazed by his initial anxieties and is prepared to take the time to gain his trust, but needs socializing outside the home. He needs an experienced home without children. He can take against certain people which would need to be managed.
